Azura’s Team Plaid had a fantastic time at the Value of Biogas West Conference, hosted by the Canadian Biogas Association (CBA). The event will brought together renewable energy professionals from Canada, the United States, Europe, and Latin America at the Westin Bayshore hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia, from October 6 to 8, 2026. This year’s event had a few exciting features:
- Special Focus on the Maritime Sector: While the Value of Biogas conferences have focused on opportunities to expand and improve the success of biogas & renewable natural gas (RNG) projects, this year, the conference explored biomethane and Bio-LNG (a liquefied renewable natural gas ideal for decarbonizing the marine sector). International shipping is emerging as one of the world’s most significant new markets for low-carbon fuels and this conference provided a platform to discuss the opportunities within this global transition.
- United Biogas Alliance: The 2026 program featured the inaugural United Biogas Alliance Founders Forum, which brought together global leaders to discuss the future of the biogas industry. It was very interesting to hear the international perspectives and opportunities for better connectivity between the Canadian, American, European, Danish, and Brazilian biogas markets.
- Two Tours: This year, attendees were able to partake in both pre- and post-conference tours to see biogas-upgrading options. On October 6, Dave joined the tour of Village Farms where he got an inside look at their greenhouses and learned about the future of landfill gas utilization. October 8, tour attendees were able to see next-generation upgrading technologies at Hydron Energy’s demonstration facility at Bailey Landfill.
