The Value of Biogas conferences are packed full of case studies, lessons learned, and discussions about the future of the biogas & RNG sector in Canada. We were honoured to once again share our anaerobic digester experience and expertise at this event.
Azura’s Bioprocess Analyst, Peter Quosai presented, “Grit: What it is and what to do about it” at 9:30am on Wednesday March 19th. Grit poses a costly challenge to biodigesters, with cleanouts costing up to $2M. Unlike wastewater systems, digesters process grit with higher variability, organic content, and complex surface chemistry. During this session, Peter addressed the value of understanding grit composition and explore pre-treatment methods to mitigate grit’s impact. The session featured interactive components where attendees will be given practical tools to identify, analyze, and manage grit in diverse feedstock streams.
The Value of Biogas conferences are renowned as Canada’s premier gatherings for the biogas and renewable natural gas (RNG) industry, and we were proud to once again be able to sponsor this event. Hosting more than 400 biogas professionals, this conference was a fantastic opportunity to connect with business leaders, legal experts, project developers, technology vendors, as well as anaerobic digestion and RNG subject matter experts.
As biogas upgrading becomes a critical part of the biogas sector, Team Plaid enjoyed this year’s site tour to Ontario’s largest RNG plant – the Walker Environmental East and South Landfills.
